Welcome to my Creative Projects blog!

Hi there! I'm Debra Tracey and this is where I will tell you about my projects, as they happen.

If you would like to learn more about my older projects, you will find them on Facebook and Instagram but I thought it was about time I shared my creativity on a more accessible platform.

I will soon upload video tutorials on my website so keep a look out for those.

RNLI Community Mosaic Mural, call to action poster.

This is such an exciting project that I thought you would like to join me along the way.

Why the RNLI?

Grab yourself a cuppa - it's going to be a long one!

Last year, chatting to students, one of my regular visitors, Amanda, mentioned that it was the 200 year anniversary of the RNLI this year. This planted a seed.

A happen-chance discussion with RNLI Volunteer David Hill of the Port St Mary station, resulted in my visiting and sharing my idea for a community mosaic.

The more I researched the RNLI the more fascinated I became. The fact that the founder, Sir William Hilary, lived on the Isle of Man and was inspired to create an organisation to save lives, is quite incredible.

I felt strongly that this should be celebrated and what better way than to create a piece of artwork WITH and FOR the local community. And visitors of course!

The Fundraising Chair of Port St Mary RNLI is Ruth Quillin-Creamer and she has been invaluable in helping me get this project off the ground. I feel honoured to know this young woman who is a recent recipient of Gef's 30 Under 30 Awards.

Ruth and I were invited by Manx Radio to chat about the mosaic. You can hear some of the interview by clicking the button below,.

What next?

July will be a very busy month as I prepare and deliver many workshops. My aim is to support as inclusive a cross-section of the community as possible, to e involved,.

As the weeks go by, I will share images and chat about the workshops but I am interested in what YOU have to say about the RNLI. Share your wonderful stories with me and the world. It is too important a charity to be quiet about.

There will be opportunities for you to get involved. Subscribers to my website will be the first to know workshop dates. Funded by Arts Council Isle of Man, there are 3 workshops of the 15 remaining and these will be announced in a couple of weeks.
